	We have been involved in the Racing Pigeon Sport for over 45 years with 30 of those years from our current location. With the exception of a few years that we took off to pursue other interests, we have flown both the old bird and young bird successfully in most of those years. In 2004, after a few years break, we started back again in the young bird season with, basically untried stock but with families of birds that I had kept pretty much intact. We fly a family of DeKlak based Janssens mostly from the DePonderosa Loft located in York, Pa. and a family of old line HVR based on the bloodlines of CY Holder (Pittsburgh Champion of years past) and Ben Housman. I generally keep the families as straight as possible but will bring a quality bird or two into the loft every year or so, breed them in, test them and then remove them using their youngsters and their flying records to determine whether or not to use them as breeders.
	Foundation Birds		Top Results
			After a season of sorting the birds out, the 2005 seasons found us winning 57 diplomas while competing in the WHF Club of Wooster, OH, the Buckeye Combine and the ABC Concourse. We finished up the year by winning first, second and fifth with three of only seven day birds on a tough 300 mile SBMF Futurity. Old Bird season of 2006 was a monster year for us as we won seven times first club, four times first combine, three times first concourse and also was fifth overall Ohio-Penn Federation from 400 miles with 102 lofts and 1350 birds competing and then capping off the season winning first overall Ohio-Penn Federation from 500 miles with 106 lofts and 1536 birds competing. We won 81 diplomas along the way and finished fourth and eighth on the SBMF 300 mile futurity. In 2006, we also had two birds qualify as AU Champions and one of them was a Qualified Contender for the AU Hall Fame Award in the 31-40 loft category. In the 2007 Old Bird series, we won a first club from 300 miles, twice first club from 400 miles and first club from 500 miles. These birds also placed high in combine, concourse and did OK in the Federation standings although not as good as the previous year. Along the way, we had champion birds, champion lofts and average speed awards, also. 2009 Race Results Distance 150 miles Club 6, 8, 10, 11, 15 Combine 14, 16, 18, 25, 35 200 miles Club 4, 5 Combine 5, 6 200 miles Club 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, 14 Combine 6, 9, 13, 16, 17, 24 200 miles Club 1, 6 Combine 3, 8 300 miles Club 1, 7, 8, 10 Combine 2, 12, 24, 27 400 miles Club 1, 2 Combine 5, 10 500 miles Club 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 Combine 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 14, 15 There were two races I did not fly due to previous commitments. The 400 was won with a 2yr. old son of my 2006 Federation winner with the Fed. winner’s full brother second. The 500 had the same 2nd place bird as the 400. Of the 5 day birds in the club, we had 4 of them. Like-wise, the combine only had 7 day birds and we had 4.
